Exercise Physiology

What is Exercise Physiology?

Accredited Exercise Physiologists (AEPs) are university qualified allied health professionals equipped with the knowledge and skills to assess, design, implement and evaluate safe and effective exercise interventions for people with medical conditions, injuries or disabilities.

Our AEP’s are passionate to assist in restoring your optimal physical ability, health and wellness. Their aim is to help individuals enhance their quality of life through education, behavior change and lifestyle modification, taking into account the individual’s unique health history. Our AEP’s can prescribe you with the right type and dose of exercise to suit your unique needs and physical capabilities, and empower you with the knowledge, skills and techniques needed to help you reach your goals!

The correct type and dose of exercise is very important, and can be powerful in the prevention, treatment and/or management of chronic diseases and disabilities. The benefits of living an active lifestyle can help improve many areas of your health and wellbeing, including reducing the risk of developing chronic lifestyle diseases, such as cardiovascular disease or diabetes. Exercise can also help to protect against mental health conditions like anxiety and depression, and is also vital for brain health, as it can reduce your risk of developing dementia or Alzheimer’s disease as you age. It is proven that individuals who exercise regularly tend to live longer, happier and healthier lives than those who are inactive.
