Kerin Health is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Occupational Therapist to join our dynamic and innovative team in a locum capacity, providing high-quality therapeutic services to individuals in rural Australia.

This unique opportunity allows you to work in supporting and making a difference in the lives of adult and paediatric clients in rural areas. You will collaborate with a supportive multidisciplinary team, including Key Workers and Allied Health Assistants, to provide comprehensive care and interventions.

Responsibilities include..

  1. Conduct Initial Assessments: Conduct thorough assessments of clients referred to the service, utilising a range of assessment tools, observation, and interviews to determine the client's occupational therapy needs.

  2. Treatment Planning and Intervention: Develop individualised treatment plans based on assessment findings, incorporating evidence-based interventions and therapeutic techniques to promote optimal rehabilitation, independence, and functional abilities in clients and children.

  3. Service Delivery: Deliver high-quality occupational therapy services to children and adult clients.

  4. Collaborative Multidisciplinary Teamwork: Collaborate closely with a supportive multidisciplinary team, including Key Workers and Allied Health Assistants, to ensure coordinated and integrated care for clients. Participate in regular team meetings, case conferences, and ongoing communication to provide holistic support.

  5. Caregiver Education: Educate and empower caregivers about their dependant’s occupational therapy goals, intervention strategies, and home-based activities to support client progress. Provide resources and training as needed.

  6. Progress Monitoring and Documentation: Regularly monitor and evaluate client’s progress towards established goals, adjust treatment plans accordingly, and maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of all assessments, interventions, and communications in accordance with organisational policies and standards.

  7. Professional Development and Continuous Learning: Stay abreast of current research, best practices, and emerging trends in occupational therapy and related fields. Engage in ongoing professional development activities to enhance knowledge and skills.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited institution.

  • Current registration and licensure as an Occupational Therapist in Australia.

  • Experience working with rural populations.

  • Strong knowledge of occupational therapy theories and practices.

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively engage adults and children alike.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

  • Strong organisational skills, including time management and documentation.
