FAQs
Are online assessments of functional capacity accurate?
Conducting a functional assessment through online platforms is indeed accurate.
Our team of Occupational Therapists specialise in delivering comprehensive OT evaluations remotely. Through Telehealth, we offer functional assessments, also known as Functional Capacity Assessments, using various online methods.
To ensure accuracy, we employ different techniques to gather information online, such as:
Utilising questionnaire-style assessments that are easily administered through online platforms.
Relying on virtual meetings through Telehealth, along with videos, photos, and insights from your care team for observation-based assessments.
Taking photos of your living environment.
Using smartphones or tablets for recordings or live sessions as guided by your therapist. This may involve capturing activities like walking, transfers, and performing daily tasks such as making a cup of tea.
Collaborating with other professionals who might have in-person interactions with you, such as Physiotherapists or Support workers, to gather additional information.
Is it possible to present an online functional assessment to the NDIS?
Absolutely!
Reports generated from online functional assessments are eligible for submission as components of an application to access the NDIS or as part of a plan review. Many of our clients seek a functional assessment to offer the NDIS a clearer understanding of the impact their disability has on their daily function.
These assessments, along with their recommendations, serve as a means to advocate for necessary support during plan reviews. The assessment includes a comprehensive written report which outlines functional abilities and recommendations.
What is a functional capacity assessment?
A functional capacity assessment (sometimes referred to as a functional capability assessment) is an assessment, or evaluation that is used to capture a full picture of a person’s functional abilities and/or limitations in performing everyday activities.
The purpose of functional assessments is to assess a person’s current functional status, identify any areas where they may require support or assistance, and develop a plan to help them achieve their goals and improve their overall function.
