Occupational Therapy

What is Occupational Therapy?

Occupational therapists have the role of helping you develop and maintain everyday living skills which may be challenging due to a temporary or permanent medical condition or disability.

We will help you regain your independence with activities such as taking care of yourself and others, working, accessing the community and participating in leisure activities. For children this also includes engaging in play and school activities. We can help you in your home environment, community, schools or clinic.

This may look like prescribing equipment to help you, modifying activities or making your home safer. With children, we will work closely with families, carers, teachers and community services to support your child's goals, such as building fine motor skills, regulating emotions, understanding sensory processing challenges and engaging with others.

Services include:

  • Home modification assessments

  • Home safety visits

  • Equipment prescription including wheelchairs and seating

  • ADL (activities of daily living) assessments and training

  • Functional Capacity evaluations in person and online.

  • Developmental assessments and interventions

  • Fine/gross/visual motor assessments and interventions

  • Sensory assessments and interventions.
