Pilates Frequently Asked Questions

FAQ

  • I've never done a pilates class before! Are the classes suitable for beginners?

Absolutely. We have complete beginners all the way through to advanced levels in all of our classes. Our studios are a safe, supportive and encouraging environment, We also run our classes in small numbers to ensure clients get adequate support and attention from our expert instructors. During the class you will be guided, and each exercise is able to be modified to suit each persons physical ability. Just remember - even the most experienced person once was a beginner too.

  • It's been a long time since doing any exercise. Is pilates a good place to start with limited fitness?

YES! The best thing about pilates is that it is an extremely adaptable form of exercise. This means that it can be as gentle, or as challenges as you make it. All exercises within a class are adapted with different levels to suit very gentle levels, through to difficult exercises.

  • I am very experienced on the reformer. I am seeking a hard workout. Will the classes be challenging enough for me?

Yay! Welcome! The best thing about pilates is that it is an extremely adaptable form of exercise. This means that it can be as gentle, or as challenging as you make it. All exercises within a class are adapted with different levels to suit very gentle levels, through to very challenging strength exercises. If you want to feel the burn - we guarantee our instructors can get you there.

  • Can I do Pilates while pregnant?

YES! We can tailor the class to you and your needs throughout the term to ensure you and bub are comfortable during the classes. This just means that sometimes you will be given a movement regression or a more suitable exercises tailored to you.

  • How soon can I sign up after having a baby?

It is important to give your body time to heal after you give birth, however our team is trained to be able to help you regain your body awareness, confidence and strength post postpartum. We recommend you wait until you have been cleared at your 6 week check up by your treating physician, we also recommend a review with a Women's Health Physiotherapist to ensure you have all the knowledge to successfully return to exercise postpartum. We complete a screening questionnaire before you commence the term so that you can advise us of any health concerns before starting so we can tailor the class to you.

  • Can I bring my child along?

Of course you can. We love having babies/kids in class. We do our best to provide your child with love and cuddles during class, however our focus will predominantly be on our class participants so it is important you are aware that your child is your responsibility, and we don't want little fingers getting caught in springs or tracks on the reformer.

  • I know I will be away in Week 4 of the term, what do I do if I cannot make a class.

You can opt out of a class with 48 hours notice and jump into a makeup class during the next available time slot.

  • If I do classes on consecutive days such as Tuesday and Wednesday, will I be doing too much?

You can most definitely complete Pilates classes on consecutive days without hindering your results. You will likely be completing a class with a different instructor, working on different body parts so it will be beneficial for your body. Our bodies were designed to move, so make sure you prioritise recovery (rest, nutrition, water and stretching) and you will be able to enjoy as many classes as you feel comfortable with.

  • What do I need to bring to class?

Truly, just yourself! However we do recommend you wear grip socks (you can buy these in our studios), wear comfortable clothing and bring a water bottle to keep hydrated.
